How to Create your Brand – find a Niche

branding -yourself- onine-how-to-make-money-online-with-your-home-based-business

Be creative…solve a problem

by Gerard Fairley

A really important part of crafting your brand’s positioning is to understand the functional benefits that you offer as a product or service. What do you “do” for your customers? Don’t say I sell Herbalife…. or I sell Wake Up Now. No, what benefit do YOU the Brand offer your potential customer ? If your (mlm or network marketing) company ever goes out of business, will you lose all of your customers ? You would if you just sold them pills and potions. But if you the Brand…provided a benefit, then they would follow you on to the next company or Project that you work with.

Now you see why the “benefit” I provide as my Brand..is a way to teach entrepreneurs how to generate leads for their business. So now I can transfer me and my Brand to any business at all. This is what I call Brand Positioning. Find something that you do best…provide that as the base foundation of your brand…then find a company that you can wrap around your brand (and you can peel it off later if necessary and your brand still stays intact.)

How to Create your Brand…

You need a niche….a specialized category within your chosen field or industry

how to make money online - how to brand yourself

The more targrted the better…

If you love fitness, then there are several top companies that you can partner up with to promote and monetize your fitness lifestyle. So your website would be a reflection of that and you can “plug in” any relevant product or company. But don’t just do fitness…that is a very broad category. You need to narrow your focus a bit (this is a niche). How about fitness for “moms over 30” or “moms over 40” or “home fitness routines for the busy individual” – what we have done is just added a bit of detail to a broad category..to further define your target customer with more focus and attention to what they care about. A “mom over 40” is much more likely to follow you and your blog and buy your products…because she can emotionally connect to your brand on a deeper level. You are providing not some generic fitness stuff…but valuable hyper targeted content.

When you position yourself as the expert in a specific niche you will have greater clarity, and stop chasing the illusive ‘anyone who wants this product’ and your world will become a much less confusing and stressful place.

If you love beauty and fashion, you would do the same thing.  But don’t do fashion or beauty. Pick something you really, really like. Maybe its just elegant scarves and hats. Or Boots and shoes. You could be a fanatic about nail art or MAC lipstick. The point is to fine tune your category down to a niche. Create a website or blog about your chosen niche within this industry..and then plug in the relevant business partner to monetize your traffic.

So, as you are building your mailing list, be sure that you are keeping in touch with your constituents and are sending out high valuable content that relates to your brand. My brand is about teaching people how to do internet marketing (and all of the many pieces contained therein)..so I consistently provide Internet Marketing tips, strategies and techniques to my constituents. I have honed this down to a niche by targeting newbies and teaching them “the  basics of Internet Marketing” in a clear easy to understand language. Thats my niche.

Find your niche and become even more valuable to your customer.

Is your Website Sticky like a Spiders Web ?

How to make money from home ( you need a Sticky Website)
how to make money online with internet marketing and a website

sticky spider web attracts more insects

Gerard Fairley

I was making my way to my walking trail this Sunday morning as I usually do … thinking about what I want to do this upcoming week. I wasn’t paying attention and stumbled on a vine in the dirt road…and got a face full of spider webs! I frantically waved my hands to pluck this almost invisible web from my face, arms and hands. It was so darn sticky!  Out loud I said……”Arggh this website is all in my face”!  I knew I  meant to say spider web, but my mouth said website…and that caught my attention. Hmmmm, then I started thinking about how spiders attract their prey with their web…and then suck the juice out of them (that’s how they eat their prey). That’s really what websites are designed to do…attract your customer and then get them to spend some money! Spiders carefully and strategically build a web and then lay in wait for their prey; their web does all of their major work for them. Different spiders build different webs, but all webs work the same way…they attract and then hold the prey until the spider can get to it.

But is your website sticky?  Is your website attracting visitors and getting them to stay…and eventually buy something from you ? To me this word sticky has several connotations. Naturally your website has to be neat, clean looking and definitely mobile optimized, because if it isn’t…your customer will click away. Mobile Optimized  means your website looks good on a cellphone, tablet or desk top. First off, if a person lands on your website, are they compelled to look thru your pages, posts and other content? Or is your landing page really just a sales page? Or are you just working with a lead capture page? A sales page is not very sticky in and of itself. If a person glances at the sale offer and it doesn’t turn them on, they will click out of your website. BUT…if your landing page has some kind of draw or teaser…then your potential customer will investigate it further.  The ultimate draw is not a sale or an offer…but showcasing  the solution to the problem that you have solved for your potential customer…or teaching them something new.

What do you offer on your website to attract your potential customer?  You offer is your webbing….Are you offering free samples, DIY tutorials or some other kind of compelling content? Do you have videos or some other kind of animation on your page to catch a person’s attention (in those first few seconds)…or is your website static and flat? What kind of colors are you using…boring grey and earth tones? Or bold colors (orange, red, green, etc.) and images? Does your page load quickly? What kinds of informational content do you have in your website? Is it highly relevant content that solves a problem for your customer? Or is it just generic information that they can get from another website? A lead capture page is what many marketers are using…this is usually a simple one page website that has a video and some text and a place to get people to give up their name and email address ”for more info”. These kinds of websites do work, but in my mind they should be used in the right context. I want to take you thru a few layers of my website first, and really get you excited about what my product or service can do for you …THEN I drop you on my capture page. Think of each page on your website as a ring in a spider web. At the very center or core of your website should be that jewel that your customer can easily see and get (or download).  On my website, I give away several free ebooks, tools and tutorial videos…my sales  page is not the first thing you see when you land on my website. When you land on my site, you are bombarded by goodies and freebies and training videos…of course you are going to linger and poke around. And before you know it…you are filling out your name and address on my capture page…or you are looking at my sales page or store. Why? Because I gently guided you there with strategically placed breadcrumbs. So, if you are not getting the leads and sales that you would like….take a step back and figure out how to make your website stickier. Better yet, just ask me for my free opinion

If you sell Online, you need a Mailing List

Email is not dead Email is not dead

I have been focusing on building my list. But as a small business owner…whether you are selling real estate, cars, coaching services or digital products… you have to build your List…with the focus on an actual email or cellphone number (for text marketing). Social media is fun but its very captivating and steals away the attention of your potential customer. However when a person opens up a well written email, you have their undivided attention for those few seconds. A well managed email list can provide steady consistent monthly profits regardless of your product or service.

Email Marketing

If you are interested in making an additional income with a monthly passive residual income…take a look at this here.

First and foremost is you will only see results if you are actually providing high value content to your customers. If you are emailing every two days about some new product you are selling, your list will become worthless..if you can even get it built ! people will quickly unsubscribe to your list or declare your email spam. And then in  that case, you never get past their email spam filters (which are getting smarter). The idea is to provide VALUE ! ….. You have to provide value….I cant stress this enough. As long as you are educating your customer they will welcome your email and will share it with their friends and social network.

The Money is in the list. If you can take the time (or spend the money) to develop a list of 25,000-50,000 targeted loyal customers (fans) with their email address; then you are set for life. You should continually incentivize your list to bring you new customers; just by using some creative promotions and marketing campaigns. Having the email address of your client allows you to send out a once or twice a month email blast containing helpful tips, videos, tutorials, about your service or product..

You can email blast coupon specials too, and coupons are even more effective with text message blasting.  If you are just getting started and have less than 25-50 email addresses then you can work from a regular email account. Once you get past the early building of your list, you can spend money ($20 or less) and get a third party service to administer your list (via automated tools). I suggest you stick with the market leaders…Mad Mimi, Aweber, ConstantContact or Mailchimp.

Collect the email addresses of all of your clients by asking for it when they make appointments, buy merchandise, or pay for services at checkout. A friendly question “May I have your email address to send you a discount coupon?” can go a long way to building your online marketing list. Email addresses can be collected on your website, social media sites and in your brick and mortar locations. If you are an internet marketer, offer them some kind of digital download like a ebook or training video. If you offer your customer something for free on your web site, they will gladly give you their email address. If you are not getting them to sign up, then your offer is just probably not compelling enough. Your customer must view your offer as valuable to them.

Did you still remember the popular mantra, “People buy from who they know, trust and like?” And this holds true for email marketing.Once you convince someone to subscribe to your email list, for the first 7 days, don’t be tempted to send any paid offer. No matter how effective the offer seems, don’t take chances. Use the first 7 days to dazzle your fan. Send out free stuff and relevant information pertaining to your website. Since I offer Advanced Internet Marketing Training – I give away a free Internet Marketing Course…. Why ? Because the lack of knowledge in how to integrate all of the pieces of Internet Marketing is why people fail. People don’t know how to generate quality leads, or build a list and convert sales by using a website, blog and a capture page. A mailing list is the way to secure your future. What happens if one day you get locked out of your Facebook account ?  Many marketers (and people) spend most of their time on social media sites like Facebook, Instagram and twitter…just pushing out links and not really offering value.  So I give away knowledge as a way to induce people to give me their email address 🙂

5 Steps Towards a Happier Life

make money online with your own home based business

When it comes to finding happiness, many of us seem to be looking for it in all the wrong places, wasting time and energy, not realizing that the root of happiness is within each and every one of us, in our hearts. Allowing ourselves to experience genuine happiness is to become happiness, it is wanting happiness to be a part our lives with all our hearts and being open to receiving it no matter what form it might take.

Today I would like to share with you the five steps that will help you on this journey toward experiencing the real happiness you have been searching up until this very moment

1. Surround yourself with people who love and accept you

Surround yourself with people who allow you to be you, for who you are, not for what they want you to be.

You know those people who are always eager to help you change, even if you don’t want to change? I believe in change, I embrace change, but when a person doesn’t want to change or is not ready to change, forcing her to do just that is quite disturbing. You simply can’t “help” somebody who doesn’t want to be helped.

I can tell you from my own experience that, when you accept and love people for what they are, and you treat them, not as if they aren’t complete or whole, not as if they are inferior to you, that is when you are in fact helping them.

Goethe said it so beautifully, that “When we treat a man as he is, we make him worse, but when we treat a man as he should be, as he could be, we promote him to what he should be and could be, we help him grow, and you help him become more than he already is.” and this is what I call THE POWER OF NON-INTERFERENCE!

2. Cultivate new, positive and empowering habits

It is said that negative habits are easy to form but hard to live with, while on the other hand, positive and empowering habits are harder to form but a lot easier to live with. Just think about how easy it is to form the habit of procrastination for example, which is a negative habit, in case you thought otherwise.

Now let’s try to cultivate a new and positive habit. We want you to wake up every morning an hour earlier to exercise, meditate or I don’t know, you could pick whatever positive habit you want. You will tell yourself that you must do it, you want to do it, you have to do it, and in the morning, when the alarm clock rings, what do you do? You turn it off and you continue sleeping saying to yourself: “I will wake up earlier tomorrow. Yes! Tomorrow I will definitely do it!” Is that O.K.?

3. Invest in yourself

The way I see it, there is no greater investment than the investment you make in yourself, because, just like Eckhart Tolle said it “you can lose something that you have but you can never lose something that you are.” You are your most precious treasure, and if you choose to dig without instead of digging within, you will never find real happiness, you will never find long term happiness, only short and superficial happiness. Learn to see yourself as your most valuable possession, work on doing just that.

4. Lighten your load

You know how people always complain that they don’t have enough, and that they need more, they want more, they must have more? Well, let me ask you this question: Right now, do you really need more? More clothes, more shoes, more money, more stuff, more of everything? I mean, do you really need more than you already have, right this very moment, not in the future, not in an hour, not in a week, a month or a year, but now!

Take time to think about it, if you need it, but chances are that the answer will be NO. According to the 20/80 rule, we only use 20% of the things we have, only 20% … and even so, we always complain that there isn’t enough and that we don’t have enough.

I am not against having money, I am not against having beautiful things, stuff, etc., but the idea is to look over those things you no longer need, to look over those things you no longer use, and give them away, make room for new things, better things to come your way. I am 100% sure that you feel better now, knowing that you don’t just have to give stuff away just to lighten your load, but because you need to make room for new stuff to come your way, right?

5. Take time to recover

People nowadays work way too much and whenever they take a break, that is if they take one, whenever they take a vacation, some time off, instead of enjoying themselves, instead of being present in whatever it is that they are doing, they are thinking about what needs to be done at work, what they should do when they go back to work, whether it was a good idea to take a vacation or not, whether they should go back to work earlier, etc. And of course, this isn’t only about those people who have a job, but for all those people who are always so “busy”.

I want you to read these incredible words that came from no other than Leonardo Da Vinci, who clearly understood the importance and power of resting and recovery, the importance of taking some time off from your work: “Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.”

You see, if we could all take some time and think about what truly makes us happy, we would come to the conclusion that our own happiness is not something that depends on how others treat and look at us, but rather on how we treat ourselves, how we love ourselves and how we treasure and work with the time we have been given here on this amazing planet.

With all my love,

Purpose Fairy

How to Stay Motivated !

How To Stay Motivated And Accomplish Anything

By Suzanne Gerber, Next Avenue Contributor

Sustaining motivation can be tough under the best of circumstances. So how can you stay motivated when your to-do list runs to four pages, you just got another rejection letter, your adult child announced his plans to move back home, the car and washing machine went on the fritz at the same time and you can’t find time in the day to work on your own personal projects?

We know those pop-psych directives to put a photo of you at your most fit on the fridge or write yourself a check for $1 million and tape it to your computer monitor or plaster your mirrors with affirmations, like “I attract my perfect soul mate.”

make money online with your own home based business

There is no little blue pill for it. But it’s something you can tap into by design then harness. Every inspirational author, speaker and life coach has his own tips (and DVDs and seminars), but over my decades of observing super-successful, high-achieving people, I’ve come up with a list of seven things that are fundamental to sustaining motivation, whether you’re trying to finish a 10,000-piece jigsaw puzzle or climb Kilimanjaro.

(MORE: 6 Steps to Making Lasting Change)

 Seven Steps to Staying Motivated

 1. Set a goal and visualize it down to the most minute detail. See it, feel it, hear the sounds that accompany the end result (wind rushing through your hair, applause). Elite athletes visualize their performance ahead of time — right down to the smell of the sweat dripping down their face as they cross the finish line.

 2. Make a list of the reasons you want to accomplish the goal. In our busy, distracting world, it’s easy to get blown off course. This is why you need to ground yourself in your goal. For extra “success insurance,” write your list with a pen. Studies show that when we write by hand and connect the letters manually, we engage the brain more actively in the process. Because typing is an automatic function that involves merely selecting letters, there’s less of a mental connection.

 3. Break the goal down into smaller pieces and set intermediary targets — and rewards. I’ve called this “chunking” long before there was a Wikipedia to explain that there are eight variations of the concept. To me it’s the best non-pharmaceutical antidote to ADHD. Tony Robbins, arguably the foremost motivational speaker and personal development coach, says: “A major source of stress in our lives comes from the feeling that we have an impossible number of things to do. If you take on a project and try to do the whole thing all at once, you’re going to be overwhelmed.”

Enter chunking. My system involves chipping away at a project. Break it down into the smallest realistic steps and only do one at a time. Neuroscience tells us that each small success triggers the brain’s reward center, releasing feel-good chemical dopamine. This helps focus our concentration and inspires us to take another similar step. Try this with your bête noire, whether organizing your papers and bills or setting out to find a new job.

(MORE: In a Rut? 4 Ways to Get Unstuck)

 4. Have a strategy, but be prepared to change course. Let Thomas Edison inspire you in this department: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.” “The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”

 5. Get the help you need. It doesn’t necessarily take a village, but even if you could theoretically accomplish your objective alone, there’s inherent value in sharing your plan. It’s why people get married in front of witnesses. Announcing your intentions sends a strong message to the world and, more important, to your unconscious mind, which can sometimes sabotage our best efforts. Also, we often overestimate our abilities. The flip side is being highly selective about whom you tell and ask for help. It’s akin to the builder’s rule to always get “the right tool for the right job.”

 6. Pre-determine how you will deal with flagging motivation. This is not defeatist thinking. On the contrary! It’s (almost) inevitable that at some point along the way, whether because of temporary setbacks or sheer exhaustion, you will need a little boost. When that happens, I think of what others have endured to reach their targets and to quash even the beginning of a pity party, I invoke the most hard-core endurance models I can think of: friends fighting serious diseases and Holocaust survivors.

Winston Churchill is particularly inspirational on this front. After London endured 57 consecutive bombings by the Germans during World War II (the Blitzkrieg), he was invited to address a group of students. In that speech, he uttered his immortal line “Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, give up.”

 7. Continually check in with your reasons for carrying on. Despite his all-too-human flaws, Steve Jobs embodied this brilliantly. He once told an interviewer: “I think most people that are able to make a sustained contribution over time — rather than just a peak — are very internally driven. You have to be. Because, in the ebb and tide of people’s opinions and of fads, there are going to be times when you are criticized, and criticism’s very difficult. And so when you’re criticized, you learn to pull back a little and listen to your own drummer. And to some extent, that isolates you from the praise, if you eventually get it, too. The praise becomes a little less important to you and the criticism becomes a little less important to you, in the same measure. And you become more internally driven.”

 See the Big Picture

There’s also a more meta, “Why are we here?” way to think about motivation. The great Jewish Rabbi Hillel (alive around the time of Jesus), famously said, “If not you, then who? If not now, when?” If you truly let those words sink in, it’s hard to be slacker.

But perhaps my favorite “put it all in perspective” commentary comes from the Dalai Lama. When asked what surprised him most about humanity, he answered, “Man.” Why?

“Because,” said His Holiness, “he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

Money is Just condensed Energy…but so are you !

online marketing

The society in which we live in, places a high value on money (cash, etc). This kind of pressure to acquire money, causes most people to feel oppressed and anxious to get it (in order to exist and thrive). This very energy (anxiety and worry) about money…makes it that much harder to acquire it. On top of this,,, we all have childhood experiences that shape our belief about money…and what we must do to acquire it….including our definition of success, and how we much quantify it, label it, and judge each other by it. Depending on what beliefs you were "taught" as a child about money….that is a direct reflection on your current state of income."You have to work hard to get money" <—- This has got to be the all time most limiting belief about money you will ever hear (and there are plenty more that you have heard and still believe). And we all have heard this or a variation of it while growing up. A belief is just something you hear (or say) over, and over, and over again…until you Believe it.

money - how to make money online

Money is just a conceptual vehicle that we use to trade for goods and services. Physicists have already proven that Money (the actual paper/coin/digital currency) is made up of  energy (condensed atoms and empty space), just like everything else.  Regardless of what business or career you are in,…. Whether you are trying to make money online or  get a better job or whatever, your mind has to be right regarding money. You have to  expect money to find you. You have expect money to increase in volume and denomination in your pockets and bank accounts.  Expectation drives your experience in life. So in order to attract and create more money in your life, you have to change your thinking about it. Recondition your mind. Money is real….and Not real at the same time. Money is not separate from you but is made up of the same stuff as you…so ultimately you can connect with it (mentally). Ultimately you can have dominion and authority over it…if you Believe it !

How to Do YouTube Marketing

how to do youtube marketing

How to Do YouTube Marketing

YouTube SEO is the quickest way to Organic Traffic from Google

Videos charge people’s emotions about a product quicker than words.  Proper YouTube SEO along with your regular marketing efforts will surely pay off in the long run. YouTube is the second most popular search engine after Google… So whatever business you are in, you need to be on YouTube getting people interested in what you have to offer and driving traffic back to your website.

YouTube SEO is one of the quickest ways to get organic high page search ranking with Google.  Before you upload another video, take a few minutes to review your YouTube Marketing Strategy. Start with your YouTube Channel Theme. Click on your settings and make sure the keyword tags that there are the most relevant to your product and industry.  Don’t waste precious space here by putting your company name in this box unless you (or your product) are already a well-known brand.  Think of what keywords people are searching for relative you, and your product or service. The smart marketers have known all along that video is the way to really motivate people to buy. Videos charge people’s emotions about a product quicker than words.  Proper YouTube SEO along with your regular marketing efforts will surely pay off in the long run. After reading this article, you should know how to keyword your videos to take better advantage of this tremendous search traffic.

First things first: Ideally you’re the headline of your video will be congruent with your overall YouTube Channel theme.  If your theme is about Time Share Vacations, then all of your videos should “talk” to that same theme.  Think of YouTube as your nucleus of your spider web of video marketing, and each video as an outer ring of your web.  YouTube SEO is all about keywords and links. It’s really very simple, people just make it hard. Before I create a video, I decide what my topic is, and do a keyword search first with Google keyword tool box.  The title of your video or heading should correspond to actual searched phrases and keyword phrases.  This is the biggest thing to concern yourself with, assuming you have a good video product.  Most people don’t do this first step.  They just use what they think is a “catchy” headline. What will your headline be?

The Next key thing is your keyword tags.  This is the second most important step to making it big in video marketing or possibly going viral on YouTube. Some may argue that you can go viral on just a great headline (or a large social media following), but keywords allow people to easily search for your video.  Be sure that your channel keywords always mirror your product category and sets the tone for all of your videos.  The next set of tags will be to identify specifically what is in the video. If your channel is all about “Resort Vacations in the Bahamas”, then your first keyword phrase (or tag) could be “Resort Vacations Bahamas”.  If your video was on planning or budgeting a vacation in economic times, you may use “Budgeting Planning Family Vacations Bahamas”, as your secondary keywords.  Successful formats include answers to frequently asked questions, how-to sessions, slide-shows, and expert interviews. Creativity and video production quality are also important aspects of creating compelling videos that represent your company.

Then we come to your URL.  I like to leave a little white space in the description box before I place my URL. Just skip a line first, visual effects are not part of SEO, but it does look better.  The extra white space, draws the eye to it. Double check to make sure all your links are working.  I cannot tell you how many times I have clicked a broken link. After you have placed your URL in the description box, say a few sentences if you can, using all of your secondary keywords.

Be sure an keep the energy going, engage with your subscribers via comments and inbox mail. Youtube is a community and social media network in its own right. With proper cultivation, you can get massive longterm traffic back to your website.
